Wildlife on the Move: Driving Safely in Peak Season
Late Spring and early Summer bring increased wildlife activity, especially during early morning and evening hours. Deer and other animals are more active this time of year, which can create unexpected hazards on the road. If an animal enters the roadway, braking firmly while maintaining control of your vehicle is typically the safest response.
To help reduce the risk of collisions:
• Slow down in areas marked with wildlife crossing signs
• Use high beams when possible, to improve visibility
• Watch for movement along roadsides
• Remember animals often travel in groups
• Stay alert during dawn and dusk hours
